Summer is the time to enjoy a tasty ice cream treat. Here are some great places to satisfy your sweet tooth.
1. Locopops
Locopops are truly delicious and are a treat for the whole family, including the four-legged members of the family: Locopops serves up beef and chicken-flavored pops on a rawhide stick that will make your pet's mouth water.
One note: Locopops doesn't take credit cards, so be sure to bring cash--the popsicles are $2.00 each.

3. Maple View Ice Cream Store
Maple View Dairy is a locally-owned and operated dairy and ice cream producer that has several Triangle-area retail outlets, including one in rural Orange County, on Maple View Farm itself. Maple View Farm is home to the herd of Holstein cows whose milk and cream go into Maple View's products.Maple View Ice Cream Store locations offer some very creative weekly specials, including uniquely-flavored floats and sundaes (almost all of them are topped with a cherry, but that's about all they have in common from week to week).
4. Maggie Moo's Ice Cream Treatery
Maggie Moo's Ice Cream Treatery is a chain restaurant with two Raleigh-area locations (one on Brier Creek Pkwy, and one in Cary at the Arboretum at Weston). Maggie Moo's Specializes in ice cream cakes and ice cream cupcakes. In fact, you can order custom-designed and made "Ice Cream Dream Cakes" from Maggie Moo's (72 hour notice is required, so plan early for that special event!).Maggie Moo's also sells milk shakes, smoothies and sundaes. Maggie Moo's super premium ice cream comes in over 50 flavors, including a few low fat and/or no sugar added flavors.
5. Ben & Jerry's
Ben & Jerry's has five "Scoop Shops" in the Triangle: one at 609 Broad St. in Durham right near Durham's Ninth St. Shopping District, another on Franklin St. in Chapel Hill as well as three Raleigh locations.Ben & Jerry's is famous for its commitment to progressive values and "promoting business practices that respect the Earth and the Environment." Ben & Jerry's Scoop Shops serve up a variety a confections (including the massive 20 scoop "Vermonster" sundae) made from ice cream flavors such as Cherry Garcia, Chunky Monkey and Phish Food.
