Visitor's to Durham 's Earth Day Festival can enjoy "unplugged" (electricity free) musical entertainment, shop for Green products and art, and learn how to lead a more sustainable lifestyle at the festival's Sustainability and Water Expos.

Planet Earth Celebration at NC Museum of Natural Sciences
Celebrate planet earth by hearing live music (including an act whose instruments include over 200 pieces of trash!), meeting Burt, of Burt's Bees, and attending presentations by members of Al Gore's Climate Registry, and by author Richard Louv. The Planet Earth Celebration also has a Green Bazaar and Boutiques featuring over 50 vendors and is the host of the 8th Annual Sustainable Design Competition.

A Celebration of Art and Nature at the North Carolina Museum of Art Parks and Trails
The NCMA's Earth Day celebration includes two stages of live entertainment, including performances by dancers, storytellers, and bluegrass band Kickin Grass. The celebration will also include the unveiling of new artwork along the museum's new 1700 foot "Ramble" trail, pottery demonstrations, children's workshops, and educational workshops about recycling, composting, pollution prevention and, my personal favorite, how to transform a storm water retention pond into a work of art.11:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. Admission is free.

Earth Day Celebration and Bird Walk at Prairie Ridge Ecostation
If you want to celebrate Earth Day by spending the morning observing birds and/or learning about (and even eradicating!) invasive plants in the Ecostation's restored prairie and wetland habitat, pay a visit to the NC Museum of Natural Sciences' Prairie Ridge Ecostation.8:00 a.m.-9:30 a.m. (bird walk) and 9:00 a.m.-12:00 noon. Duke University 2008 Earth Day Sustainability Fair at the West Campus Main Plaza
Gain environmental awareness and get information about sustainable practices from local environmental experts, including those from the Duke community as well as local businesses and organizations.
The Sustainability Fair is a culmination of Duke's Earth Month Schedule of Activities, and will be followed by a talk given by sea turtle expert and Duke graduate Wallace J. Nichols.
11:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. Admission to the Sustainability Fair is free.
