The neighborhood is served by DATA bus route 11, which runs from the Duke University campus to Bennett Pointe Shopping Center, with stops at DATA's downtown transfer facility, where bus riders can catch any bus in the DATA system.
If the highly contentious Triangle Transit Authority light rail system ever gets built, it is scheduled to serve Old West Durham with a stop on Ninth Street

Old West Durham is loaded with historic buildings and homes, including the Erwin Cotton Mills building, located on Ninth Street, and a house on 814 Clarendon St., where Richard Nixon lived while he attended Duke Law School.

Ninth Street's collection of shops includes several independent booksellers, clothing boutiques galore, art galleries, and even a locally-owned toy store!
