Raleigh-Durham Malls and Shopping Centers

By Tammy Biondi, About.com

There are plenty of great shopping malls in Raleigh-Durham, here is a guide to some of the biggest and best shopping malls in the Triangle.

1. The Streets at Southpoint

The Streets at Southpoint, which opened in 2002, is one of Raleigh-Durham's newest and biggest malls. It has five anchor stores, including Sears, Macy's, Hudson Belk, J.C. Penney, and the Triangle's only Nordstrom store. Most of The Streets at Southpoint's stores are located inside the gigantic two story mall, but one of the mall's "streets" is an outdoor one, lined with shops, fountains and sculptures.

2. Cary Towne Center

Cary Towne Center has over 140 stores, including five anchor stores: Macy's, Sears, JC Penney, Dillard's and Hudson Belk. It also features stores such as Jos. A. Bank Clothiers, Helzberg Diamonds, and The Limited. The mall has a great online shopping interface, where shoppers can find stores that have the products they want, as well as purchase and/or reserve products for in-store pick-up.

3. Crabtree Valley Mall

Crabtree Valley Mall has over 220 stores, and is anchored by Hudson Belk's flagship store, Macy's and Sears. Upscale stores such as Sephora, Ann Taylor and Williams-Sonoma make up the bulk of the tenants at Crabtree Valley Mall, and valet parking is available for shoppers who want to avoid negotiating the mall's crowded parking decks.

4. Crossroads Plaza

Crossroads Plaza is located right down the street from Cary Towne Center , and it is home to just about every big box store that you can think of, and then some! The trick is finding the stores: Crossroads Plaza 's layout is full of twists, turns, and on-ramps, so it's easy to end up on Route 1, instead of in the parking lot of your favorite store. However, once shoppers get the hang of it, they are treated to a shopping bonanza that includes DSW Shoes, Old Navy, REI, Best Buy, and more. Just make sure to study the shopping center's map and directory before your visit.

5. South Hills Shopping Center

This shopping center is less glitzy than its nearby neighbors (Crossroads Plaza and co.), but it is home to the Grand Asia Market, which is a unique shopping experience that will be appreciated by shoppers looking for exotic ingredients to cook with or Asian arts and crafts to decorate with or to give as gifts. South Hills is also home to Burlington Coat Factory, Northern Tool & Equipment, Rugged Warehouse and, its newest tenant, MJ's Furniture.

6. Northgate Mall

Northgate Mall is home to stores such as EB games, Tiger Direct Discount Computers, Charlotte Russe and Dress Barn. It is anchored by a Sears, a Macy's and Northgate Stadium 10 movie theater.

1058 West Club Blvd. , Durham (919) 286-4400

7. Triangle Town Center
